To welcome the Spring Festival of 2026 (the Year of the Horse) and convey the school's deep care and festive wishes to international students, allowing them to deeply appreciate the cultural heritage and reunion atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, the International Education College held a Spring Festival cultural experience event for international students on the morning of February 16. Dean He Yan, Vice Dean Han Rui, and counselor Nie Yan of the International Education College gathered with over 20 international students from countries such as Bangladesh and Tajikistan to jointly experience the joyous atmosphere of the Spring Festival.

At the beginning of the event, He Yan led a team to visit and comfort international students who stayed on campus during the winter break, presenting them with carefully prepared Spring Festival gift packages. They personally conveyed the warmth of the school and the beautiful expectations of the Year of the Horse to each international student. Teachers had cordial conversations with the students, inquiring in detail about their holiday arrangements and daily life, encouraging them to experience more of China's traditional culture during the Spring Festival. This genuine care from the school made every international student present feel a deep sense of warmth.

Subsequently, the cultural experience segment kicked off amidst laughter and joy, with teachers and students jointly writing Spring Festival couplets and exchanging blessings, immersively appreciating the unique charm of Chinese calligraphy. At the event, teachers patiently demonstrated brush writing techniques, guiding international students step-by-step on how to hold and move the brush, while explaining the symbolism of the "Fu" character and the cultural connotations of the Year of the Horse Spring Festival couplets. The international students were highly enthusiastic and diligently copied, writing the bright red "Fu" characters and the Year of the Horse Spring Festival couplets filled with good wishes stroke by stroke. Although their handwriting was slightly immature, it was brimming with anticipation for the New Year and a deep love for Chinese culture. After completing the writing, the international students deliberately pasted the "Fu" characters upside down on their room doors, chanting "Fu is here" in the newly learned Chinese.

The folk experience segment brought the event atmosphere to a climax, with students making dumplings and eating tangyuan, savoring the warmth of the Chinese New Year amidst the festive atmosphere. The teachers took the lead in demonstrating the basic steps of making dumplings, from rolling out the dough, filling it, to kneading it together, explaining every detail with meticulous care. The international students actively participated and boldly tried, some carefully mimicking the teachers' movements, while others creatively shaped dumplings into various forms. When the steaming dumplings and tangyuan were served, teachers and students gathered around to enjoy the homemade delicacies, sharing their holiday experiences and deepening their bonds in the hazy, festive atmosphere.

International students in China are not only experiencers of Chinese New Year customs but also disseminators of this cultural tradition. This immersive cultural experience makes the Chinese New Year culture described in books tangible and perceptible, enabling students to understand the symbolism of reunion and cultural heritage behind the Chinese New Year through hands-on practice, thereby deepening their understanding and identification with Chinese culture. In the future, our university will continue to focus on the academic and living needs of international students in China, organizing more diverse cultural exchange activities so that every international student can truly experience the vitality and humanistic charm of China's development, becoming genuine ambassadors of cultural exchange between China and the world.
