The International Education College Organized a Cultural Experience Activity for International Students to Learn about China's National Conditions and Culture
To enhance foreign students' understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture, on the afternoon of October 29th, the International Education College organized a learning and experience activity on Chinese calligraphy and paper-cutting skills for foreign students. The event was held at the School's Cultural Inheritance and Innovation Center and the Chinese National Conditions and Culture Education Base for Foreign Students, and Professor Gu Mingzhi, the Secretary-General of the National Vocational College Aesthetic Education Alliance and the Director of the School's Aesthetic Education Joint Research Office, was invited to conduct on-site teaching. The event was attended by He Yan, the Dean of the International Education College, Han Rui, the Vice Dean, Nie Yan, the counselor, and Ding Yuanyuan, the class teacher.
The aroma of ink and the beauty of calligraphy are truly refreshing. During the event, Professor Gu Mingzhi patiently demonstrated, guiding the international students step by step from the correct way to hold the brush to the techniques of brushwork, allowing them to experience the essence of Chinese calligraphy. The students were highly enthusiastic and used their brushes to write down their love for China and best wishes, fully immersing themselves in the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture. Despite her strokes still being a bit raw, WuJinYing from Vietnam wrote each stroke with great care. She expressed that she loves Chinese culture very much, especially Chinese calligraphy. The event was filled with the fragrance of ink and continuous laughter. The cultures of different countries met and collided at the tip of the brush, igniting sparks of friendship.
The beauty of "cut-out art" showcases the thousand-year-old intangible cultural heritage. International students hold engraving knives in their hands, looking focused. They experience traditional Chinese aesthetics within the small red paper and transform cultural understanding into practical skills with their fingertips. Lucas from Kenya is very careful when cutting the red paper. He said, "Every step requires patience. A moment of inattention can break the lines." Despite his awkward movements, he still persisted in completing a paper-cut work with the theme of the character "Fu", his face full of a sense of achievement.
In the future, the International Education College will take the "Base for Chinese National Conditions and Culture Education for Foreign Students in China" as a platform, continuously carry out various forms of cultural exchange activities through innovative cooperation models between the university and the local area, deeply explore effective paths for "mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations", further deepen the connotation construction of education that enables international students to know and love China, help international students understand a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, and make positive contributions to the construction of the "Study at Changzhou Textile" brand.
